Need Lanyards for Prom

The vicious attacks in schools have made headlines across the nation. Attacks have been aimed not only at college students, but also at high school students and teachers. To help avert this ongoing threat many schools are using lanyards as a security measure. Sadly, not one event is without added security, including the prom. In fact, prom is one night that may become a future target. To help prevent this tragedy from occurring many high schools are getting special prom lanyards.

Prom is a night when all of the participants gather to celebrate their graduation. Students attend the festivities in their very best formal wear and none of the students wants to have to bother with carrying their ID or of having to pin something on the front of their dress or suit. Unfortunately, many institutions ask that they students have their ID on throughout the entire ceremony and as a reasonable alternative; they are employing an ID lanyard.

From the school’s perspective, this is a very reasonable solution to the problem. In fact, many schools have learned that they can use the lanyard to their advantage. Before the night of prom, schools are having hundreds of lanyards made up. The custom lanyards often have the date of the prom and the school colors on them to make them more attractive. These special prom lanyards are then given to the graduating students with their tickets. The students can then give the lanyards to their dates and any other guests that they want to invite to their prom. Any person who does not have the appropriate lanyard and pass is not allowed to access the event.

The great thing about prom lanyards is that they can also be customized for various other people who may be attending the prom. Chaperones can be given their own specially colored lanyard. This simple measure will enable both staff and students to immediately recognize which parents are guests and which ones are there in a more formal capacity. Another use for the colored prom lanyard is to identify any personnel that have been invited as a dignitary or special guest of the school. These people might include special speakers and alumni.

In smaller communities, parents may be asked to double as security personnel. These parents may be asked to help direct traffic or patrol the outside of the buildings. A simple lanyard will help a security parent be recognized from a distance. Parents and staff will immediately know who should be allowed to walk around outside and who should be inside the building.

The lanyard is also a very nice souvenir. Many people will undoubtedly keep their lanyard long after the event. A prom lanyard that has been custom made with the date and year will make a fun ongoing tradition at future proms. Alumni who are returning may wear their old lanyards, which will be a fun way of letting people know which year they attended the school.

Although security is a major concern at any school function, lanyards can go a long way to make it easier for staff, students and parents.
